Scouting for food
Scouting for Food - Even though there was a conflict with the Troop
campout, the food drive was a big success as the Boy Scouts partnered with
the Cub Scouts of Pack 1776. They collected, delivered and sorted more man
2,000 non-perishable items on me weekend of March 27th, 2004. A big thanks
to goes out to the parishioners of St. John Vianney parish. |

Cub Pack 1776 Pinewood Derby
Pinewood Derby – Many of the Boy Scouts helped
out Pack 1776 with their Pinewood Derby.
They assisted with the racing of the cars, setup, cleanup, and
serving of refreshments. There
was lots of fun and plenty of neat looking cars. |
| Memorial Day -
5/2004
On Sunday, May 30,2004 the Troop supported AmVet
Post 72 of Buffalo with their Memorial Day Observance to honor the war
dead. We marched in the parade and then Cory did a reading at the ceremony
at the Memorial Park which was well done. |
| Blue & Gold -
Cub Pack 1776 ended their year on May 8th, 2004 with
their Blue and Gold Dinner in St. John Vianney cafeteria. A review of the
year hi-lighted their busy schedule. Also recognized were Matt C. and
Quinn for their service as Den Chiefs. |
| CUB PACK 8113 Picnic
6-23-2002 |
|
On
Sunday, June 23 the Cub Pack had their annual picnic. Troop 1776 was asked
and gladly accepted the invitation to help out monitoring
the games and serving refreshments. It was a
beautiful day for the cubs as they had everything
you could want -- games, food, dunk tank and bounce house. The cubs
can be thankful that they have some great leaders to organize events
like this. And thankfully they did not ask any of the leaders

| Memorial Day 5-27-2002 |
|
On
Monday, May 27th - Troop 1776 participated in Memorial Day Ceremonies at
Houghton Park in Buffalo. Troop 1776 joined AMVET Post 72 and the
American
Legion Post as color guards for the ceremony that included patriotic
music,
a 21 gun salute and laying of wreaths at the war monuments by the
Scouts
of Troop 1776. It was good to see a good turnout for this event as it
is
important to remember those who have given their lives so that we can live
free.
The ceremonies were preceded by a pancake breakfast hosted by the
AMVET
Post.

Service Projects ----
Boy Scouts of America and Troop 1776 believe in the Boy Scout
motto - "Do a good turn daily'. As part of that commitment, the boys
of the troop have committed themselves to a minimum of 24 hours of service time
per year. Service can be a one time project or an ongoing project.
It can be an individual participation or it can involve the entire troop.
The Scout is able to select the service project he wants to work on. It
can be anything from doing a food drive, church service, helping neighbors in
your community or doing some trail maintenance on one of the many local trails.
