Corning 2006  On our trip to Corning, NY we went to the Corning Museum of Glass.  While we where there we sandblasted cups.  We also played football for a long time.  On our last day there it poured and we had to hike back down through Watkins Glen.  There were also many waterfalls where we camped.
First Aid Rally  2006   We were very successful at the rally in February and our novice team the “Hairy Cacti” took second place.  Good job to all who participated.
Summer Camp 2006    Summer camp was great this year.  At first, going to a different camp (Camp Metz) didn’t seem very appealing, but by the end we didn’t want to leave.  The staff there was absolutely amazing and most people received all the Merit Badges or got a partial.   It was very sad at our dismissal on Friday night.
February Campout  2006   In February I went on my first winter campout.  It was a lot of fun.  We ended up going to a Girl Scout Camp.  We built an igloo and Nate and I slept in it.  Nate woke up though and we went inside during the night.  The best was hiking to the Sugar Shanty.  I look forward to the next winter campout.
Philmont 2006     Philmont was an experience that my crew and I will never forget.  We had a lot of fun and learned lots of things about scouting.  In the future, I’m looking forward to going back there if I can.  I would suggest that anyone, boy scout or not, should go there. Something I will never forget was climbing the “Tooth of Time” and seeing that beautiful view from atop that mountain.
Erie County Forest Service Project  2006   At the service project we painted the building that we had our February campout at.  We had tacos for lunch (they were good).  Then we got to ride on a John Deer Gator.  That was fun.
Junior Leader Training Meeting 2006    We planned a lot, all the way up to December.  We played games.  The leaders cooked and planned the meals.
Watkins Glen Campout 2006
At the watkins Glen campout we did alot of fun things. We set up Friday night in the dark/ Then on Saturday we went to the Corning Glass Museum. We made glass objects. Then we went to the actual musuem. We saw glass being made and we got a bowl made right there in front of us. Then on Sunday we went to the gorge and we got pictures and hiked to the top of the gorge. We then went back to Buffalo and the church.
Food Drive 2006
This years food drive was amazing. We collected over 5000 items. The food was donated to 14 Holy Helpers and they were very grateful. We hadn lots of help and we got so much food they had to start boxing the items. Thansk to all who helped.
First Aid Rally February 4th, 2006
The first Aid Rally was a great time. We had just got new boys and many of them competed. In addition to the three groups we entered, our Novice group came in third. It was made up of R. Hackford, B Binaxis, M Hoesterman, M Wetzel and J Stahl. We also would like to give special thanks to Mrs Schwartz for Excellent training!                                           ... R. Hackford
Sports Weekend January 15,16 2006
Sports weekend was a ball!! Sports, sports and more sports, basketball, handball etc.. The boys loved it and guess what? They did not sleep!! The games were great competition and at the end, the Flying Penguins took 1st place. We also gave a special cheer to D. Sechenik who was awarded the sportsmans trophy.                                                               ... R. Hackford
February Campout 2006
We camped at Sugarshack. We had lots of fun. There was a lot of snow and we went sledding. We also found a dead bird. An igloo was made and a few scouts slept in it.      ... R. Hackford

February Camp 2/2004

ECF Cabin Campout - On the weekend of February 20th, 2004 Troop 1776 headed out for a great time at the Erie County Forest cabin in Sardinia. It started off with rain on Friday night but quickly turned to colder and began to snow. A create & make your own quesadilla in the Dutch ovens was enjoyed by most. The Troop built an awesome igloo that had five entrances and the tunnels stretched about 25 feet. The boys also tried their hand at hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and sledding. Cory also managed to make his first campout with me troop a weekend of birthday cakes as he celebrated me big day.

First Aid Rally 2/2004

The Troop participated in the Silver Lakes District's First Aid Rally held at the Erie County Fair Grounds on Saturday, February 7, 2004. We had two teams competing in two divisions. Congratulations to both, but especially to the Senior Division Team of Adam, Steve, Matt C.., Mike A., and Josh who took First Place in their division.

Bowling - After the First Aid Rally the boys were treated to an Arby's meal and bowling.

Geocaching -  4/2004

On Wednesday, April 14, 2004 the Troop ventured out to Chestnut Ridge Park for an evening of geocaching. If you don't know what it is, it's like searching for a lost treasure using a GPS (Global Positioning System). They found two caches but no real treasures, just a bunch of fun stuff. And you can take something from it, if you put something back in its place. The group got so engrossed in the caches that they lost track of the time and had to hike out in the dark.

Allegheny Campout -

A dual campout. The young Scouts had a regular campsite, worked on many requirements on their road to first class, encountered the aggressive Allegheny raccoon, and saw a bear cub and of course ate well. The other group backpacked 15 miles along the Conservation Trail, had a sleeping bag come undone from the pack frame at the most inopportune time (on the ridge of a hill) and watched as it tumbled down about 100 yards. Some slept in tents and some slept in a lean-to. As we discovered, the lean-to is a favorite gnawing post for the porcupines at night. A hike down to the pond, found the busy beavers hard at work. Many requirements were completed for hiking, backpacking and camping merit badges. The rain came earlier than expected as we were only about 1/3 of the way out when the storm came along with thunder and lightning. All did a fine job under some adverse conditions.

March Camp 3/2004

Sprague Brook Campout - Again, it was a rainy Friday night as we arrived at camp on March 26m. The boys had a chance to play frisbee golf and even sled down the snow hill on Saturday. Also, several boys completed many requirements toward me Birding Merit Badge. After making a cream of broccoli cheddar soup from scratch for lunch, the boys were ready for a happy meal for dinner. Char broiled hamburgers and homemade french fries hit the spot. Some of us learned a lesson of the power of the wind and why we stake down me kitchen fly. Unfortunately, that lesson came at one o'clock in the morning.

Bison's Game 5/2004

On Friday, May 21, 2004, the Troop and the Pack of 1776 acted as the color guard for the opening ceremonies. In addition, Ryan through out the first pitch in his own unique way. After the game and fireworks, the boys pitched their tents, played a little catch on the field at Dunn Tire Park, had some ice cream and snacks, watched a movie and went to sleep (at least they did until the rains came at 3: 15 am.)

Sports Weekend 1/2004

- The Martin Luther King Holiday was the date for Troop 1776's Sports Weekend at St. John Vianney. Not only were there plenty of games, but there were also plenty of food too. There was even a Patrol competition outside in the snow. For many the hi-lite of the weekend was staying up all night playing the board game 'Settlers' while the rest of us slept after a movie.

Webelos Campout

The first weekend of June - 2004 was set aside for the WEBELOS Campout. The Scouts from Troop 1776 hosted the Webelo Scouts from Pack 1776 at the Erie County Forest site in Sardinia. A little rain, mixed with lots of fun made for an enjoyable time. Besides camping, the boys served as color guard for the National Trails Days ceremonies in Holland. They also had a chance to plant some trees in the forest as a service project. In between they built a rope bridge and ate some delicious cherry crisp they made in the dutch oven.

Frisbee Golf -

A little get together for the Troop 1776 Frisbee Golf enthusiasts took place on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Chestnut Ridge Park. A tough course, but not tough enough to stop some of the guys from playing two rounds.

Cub Picnic -

The Cub picnic for Pack 1776 was a day of fun as many of the Scouts from the Troop attended. The hi-lite of the day (at least for the Cubs) was when the Cub Scouts beat the Boy Scouts in a tug-of-war (of course the Boy Scouts were out numbered by a 3 to 1 ratio).

Trail Maintenance - a contingent of Troop 1776 Scouts and leaders tackled the job of trail maintenance on our adopted section of the Finger Lakes Trail on Saturday, May 29th, 2004. Much work was done with lopers, weed wackers, hedge cutters and paint brushes to clear the brush, grass and downed trees and also mark the trail.
